WALKING HOME WITH DUSK
By the bend in the river it stood,
By the bend in the river it stood,
A Gulmohar in full bloom;
It's rich red crown swaying, like
mutinous flames soaring up
Against the sordid grey sky.
Every day we passed it by
The falling dusk and I;
And each time we stopped by,
Dusk vanished up the tree
With my bag of earthly woes-
Those tiny shreds of formless ache
The daysoften let me keep. .
Beyond my eye, the tree and dusk
Conjured up their secret spell
A slumber divine did descend
Upon the blooms ,and my woes-
Like fading petals , they came down
Gliding gently , in the breeze..
Some , for the clouds to gather
Within their warm , fluffy souls,
Some for the wind to scatter
Across the river and endless skies..
Her eternal magic done
how quietly dusk melted off
how quietly dusk melted off
Into the night that lay in wait;
All my wordly cares gone,
I would walk home all alone
I would walk home all alone
Suffused in her after glow.
