TALISMAN

                                                 TALISMAN

Tokens to remember,
So many from you!
The first was a rose-
Red,fresh,intoxicating
You had found it for me
from the spring in our hearts..

Now it lies,forever secure,
In the labrynths of memory
Where I do get lost
Once   in a long while..

Beyond any more decay,
Buried beneath the lava
of terrible, burnt out love,
It lies in molten slumber,
like the famed cities of yore
Under deadly volcanic ash.

Now,the parting gift-
let it be mine.
For you,who loves to own
Lifeless remains of the empires
We had explored together
and left  behind forever.

The last talisman-
What should it be?
A brick from Berlin,
A mask from Venice,
The ramifying skeletons
 of dead autumn leaves?

Or may be a signature piece
From the dreary ruins of my heart,
Where roses had once bloomed,
In a glorious spring of wild abandon.
